Raccoon Poop in New Haven, CT

When people in New Haven, Connecticut and surrounding areas first realize they have wildlife on their property, they are often pleased to be in touch with nature. This pleasure lasts a very short time until they realize that while wild animals are often cute, the reality of wildlife encounters is usually very different than shown in the typical Disney movie.

Donald, in New Haven, first noticed an adult raccoon wandering through his back yard one evening and was pleased at this glimpse of nature. His feelings changed as day after day the trash cans were tipped over and his porch became the bathroom of choice for the critter. A "gift" of raccoon feces every morning quickly lost its charm.

Donald sought a solution. He tried various repellents advertised on the internet and in hardware stores. They proved ineffective. He tied down the trashcan lids and even started keeping his trash in the garage, but the animal had already established habits and seemed insulted at his efforts to remove its food source.

As much as Donald, a real animal lover, didn't like the idea, raccoon trapping became a considered alternative. He contacted us, wild animal removal specialists, for help. We came out to his property and discovered that, while he had done what he could to remove items that attracted the raccoon, his neighbors had not. The animal was "making the rounds" not only to his house but several others, too. Everyone was tired of the noise and the mess. Several people were concerned for pets and children.

People were afraid at first of animal cruelty. I assured them that raccoon trapping can be a humane process and is much more in the best interest of the animal than poisoning, for example, would be.

We set a trap and the next day the animal was caught. We carefully examined it to make sure it was not a nursing mother. It was not. It was a young male living off people on its own. We were able to take the animal away and leave the neighborhood in peace. People were pleased to find that raccoon trapping is effective, humane and often very quick. We were glad to be of service.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in New Haven and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

For pigeon and bird control, bat removal, or relief from other pest animals, call our wildlife management experts. Many nuisance wildlife companies offer critter capture and control; our wildlife operators provide professional pest wild animal management. We remove the following AND MORE:

Skunks love flowers in New Haven, Connecticut

In the cartoons Pepe LePew is a skunk who sometimes loves flowers and is always trying to present them to the woman of his dreams, a much harassed black and white cat. I always thought that was a joke until one started digging up my flower beds. Then I just wanted to know how to get rid of skunks so I can get back to smelling roses instead of something quite different.

I wouldn't have guessed the digging to be a skunk, but my neighbors saw the animal in action one night. I think he was digging for grubs or worms, which these animals apparently love, and they happened to be in my flower bed. Bad luck for me. I am not sure where the animal is living, but I need it to find a different place to eat out. Just from having the animal around skunk odor is starting to linger around my house. I don't smell it all the time, but it is enough that I can guess what the future might bring.

I usually leave upstairs windows open a bit in the summer to let in cool air. What will happen if it actually sprays right by my front door? How will I ever get the smell out of my home?

Did you know that there is no repellent for skunks? I guess it should have been obvious that nothing would repel an animal that can repel almost anything, but I was just certain that if I looked long and hard enough I would find something, but it just doesn't exist. The only way to get rid of skunks is to trap them and take them away.

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection recommends that citizens use the services of wildlife control operators who are trained specialists in wild animal control. If I really want to get rid of skunks that is the best way to go. And, if the animal does spray, these wildlife removal specialists have special tools and equipment that can get rid of the skunk smell, too. Imagine, really being able to enjoy the flowers again!
